A few hours before the new year, some of the highlights from the last year.

First, the returns: the return to acoustic ballads of the Smashing Pumpkins, the phantasmagorical return of Portishead (probably the best album of the year) and the return to religious rock n' roll by Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds (and that amazing mustache...).

Portugal is represented by Os Pontos Negros (the Portuguese equivalent of The Strokes, so so album, great single), and the post-rock of Peixe : Avião and Linda Martini.

The amazing confirmation of TV On The Radio and the revelation of Bon Iver are also high marks in the best albums section.
